Circadian rhythms and biological clocks reside within every living organism, including ourselves. To get insights into the remarkable mechanism that regulates our internal timekeeping, influencing various physiological processes and behaviours Research Cell is organizing a workshop on “The Clocks Within Us by Dr. Dhanashree Ashok Paranjpe”.
ABSTRACT OF THE SESSION
Dr. Dhanashree Ashok Paranjpe is a highly accomplished ecologist with a rich academic background and extensive research experience spanning over 20 years. She earned her MSc in Microbiology from Pune University, followed by a PhD in Animal Behaviour and Evolution from JNCASR Bangalore. Her doctoral research focused on Biological clocks and their evolutionary significance, demonstrating her expertise in the intricate workings of various biological systems.
Dr. Paranjpe further honed her skills through post-doctoral research at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where she explored diverse animal species including microbes, fruit flies, lizards, ants, and peacocks. Her research interests have led her to delve into crucial areas such as climate change and human-wildlife interactions, demonstrating her commitment to addressing pressing environmental challenges.
Currently, she serves as the head of the Rupa Rahul Bajaj Center for Environment and Art in Pune, where she leads initiatives focused on public education and awareness programs related to the environment and art. Under her guidance, the center conducts a variety of engaging activities, including talks, games, and interactive workshops, designed to communicate scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
