Budget Workshop

The Union Budget can be a complex set of documents to a beginner who wants to understand them. Vision India Foundation and GRA : Group for Rural Activities IIT-B organised a full-day workshop on budget at IIT Bombay. The workshop focused on decoding the Union Budget documents and understanding policy implications of budgetary allocations. The workshop ended with a panel discussion on impact of demonetization and expectations from GST.


Change Agents Retreat

VIF organized a 3 day strategic retreat at the Govardhan Eco Village in Palghar District between 14-16 April. 50 young change agents of VIF were part of the retreat. These included aspiring politicians, researchers, bureaucrats, social workers and community leaders. The retreat focused on building a roadmap to transform India and each change agent made a personal commitment to this transformation.


Publications

VIF research associates and research interns regularly publish their research in various fora, including online news portals and print media. Articles varied from analysis of the trifurcation of MCD, data driven analysis of Indian judicial delays, the Uttarakhand High Court judgment on the Ganges etc.  The indic studio at VIF office also regularly generates video content. VIF Fellowships

After a rigorous selection process, finally the new batch of VIF fellows 2017-20 have been selected. The focus areas for the new fellows would be building better schools, political reform, peer learning for good governance, constituency management etc. VIF Fellowship is a unique mix of research and on field implementation.


Mentor Interaction

VIF mentor panel is an eclectic mix of thinkers, researchers, senior bureaucrats, industry leaders and politicians. These mentors regularly interact with the VIF Fellows and guide them on their respective career paths. In the last 3 months, the fellows interacted with Dr Shamika Ravi, Mr PD Rai and Shri Anil Swarup.


Upcoming Programs

Upcoming programs of VIF are the Policy Bootcamp and the World Governance Expedition. The applications for both these programs are open on the VIF website.  Policy Bootcamp is a 21 day residential summer school for policy and governance. The World Governance Expedition this year will be to the United Kingdom.
