Luxmi earned her Ph.D. in Biotechnology & Molecular Biology from CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar. During her research work, she focused on marker assisted breeding to enhance grain protein and micronutrient content in Indian bread wheat.
She was the recipient of Monsanto’s Beachell Borlaug International Scholars’ Program fellowship. The fellowship allowed her to work with one of the world’s topmost wheat geneticist Dr. Jorge Dubcovsky at the University of California, Davis. Luxmi’s work has been presented at multiple national and international conferences.
Luxmi’s professional journey includes roles such as a Research Associate at the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE), New Delhi, where she worked on the Indo-Africa and Indo-Afghanistan Fellowship Schemes. She has also served as a Project Assistant at the Centre for Plant Biotechnology in Hisar, evaluating the role of mycorrhizae as bio-hardening agents in tissue cultured plants. She also had an entrepreneurial stint as a professional baker.
