Retired IAS Officer, Former Chairman, Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission

Shri R. N. Prasher, IAS (Retd.), assumed the position of Chairman of the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission on January 4, 2012. He holds Master’s degrees in Economics and Physics, along with a Bachelor’s degree in Law. Shri Prasher joined the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in 1975 and was a member of the 1975 batch (Haryana Cadre). Throughout his career, he served the state in various capacities, ranging from heading district administration as Deputy Commissioner to overseeing important government departments such as Home, Town & Country Planning, Education, Food and Supplies, Excise and Taxation, Transport, and Power. Shri Prasher also holds a position on the advisory board at Rishihood Univerity.

From 1990 to 1992, he served as the Home Secretary in the Chandigarh Administration, Chandigarh (U.T.). Shri Prasher also led large government undertakings, including the Housing Board, HUDA, and HARTRON. He retired in 2009 from the position of Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary to the Government of Haryana, Irrigation Department. Post-retirement, Shri Prasher was re-employed as the Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister of Haryana for one year.
