Revati Jayakrishnan

Assistant Professor, School of Creativity

Revati Jayakrishnan is an artist, designer and maker. She holds a Professional Diploma in Craft Designing from the Indian Institute of Crafts and Design, Jaipur and went on to pursue MA in Contemporary Crafts at the University for the Creative Arts – Farnham, UK.

Specialising in Fired Material Application, Ceramics, Glass and Jewellery, her main interest lies in material research and process development.

The Indian Institute of Crafts and Design (IICD) awarded her for Academic Excellence in Fired Material Application. She was a recipient of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA, USA) Multicultural Fellowship Award in 2016.

Revati was among the top 20 under 35 young Indian designers for the DesignXDesign Exhibition 2021.

Her work is part of the collection at the Sanskriti Museum of Indian Terracotta, New Delhi and she has also exhibited at prestigious venues like the London Design Festival 2014, Kala Ghoda Arts Festival & Make In India 2016, Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi 2018, Sargaalaya International Arts and Crafts Festival 2019 and India Design 2020.

She started her career by teaching ceramics at local ceramic centres, art schools and as visiting faculty in design colleges in Delhi & NCR; while tackling the unique challenges of setting up her own ceramic and glass design studio – Rare Studios. The collaborative approach of the studio towards problem solving and meaningful design has helped her create an exclusive network of artists and designers working across various mediums and disciplines within India and abroad.

 

She is also empanelled as an artisan and designer for all crafts under the O/o DC (Handicrafts), Government of India.
