Shivsankar’s inspiration arises from the exposure to the life and teachings of Sri Ramakrishna-Vivekananda, while he was studying at the Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda College, Chennai. A friend introduced Shivsankar to the spiritually oriented service mission of Vivekananda Kendra, the organization behind the Vivekananda Rock Memorial, Kanya Kumari. This started a journey of volunteering and learning for Shivsankar.
Professionally, Shivsankar has worked for over nine years in the IT-BPO industry as a Technical Writer and Instructional Designer, creating online and hybrid training programmes. Before joining Rashtram, he was a team member of the rural education project of the Vision India Foundation in collaboration with IIT Delhi’s Unnat Bharat Abhiyan initiative. They implemented Vidyalaya Vistaar, a series of learning interventions that helped schools of the villages around Vrindavan, Mathura supplement their curriculum and transform them to be more child-centric.
