Bachelor of Science

Optometry

BSc Optometry is a three-year Undergraduate Program offered by Rishihood School of Healthcare. Optometry deals with the examination, diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases and disorders of the visual system. It is a vision care science.

One can also define it as the science of eye equipment (including lenses and spectacles) which is imbued with the idea of improving the vision of the human eye and remove all kinds of obstacles of sight which an individual may experience. This is a dynamic and challenging career, which allows one to help people achieve personal growth, community respect, job flexibility, financial success and offers virtually unlimited opportunities for career enhancement.

Career Opportunities

The program is designed to develop multipurpose ophthalmic manpower at a paramedical level. The training will enable a student to become a competent person in providing service as an Optician, Optometrist, Refractionist and Ophthalmic Associate to the community in urban, semi-urban and rural settings in private, semi-Governmental and Governmental sectors. 

Medical Laboratory Technology

Medical Laboratory Technology also called Clinical Laboratory Science is concerned with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases through the use of clinical laboratory tests. BSc in Medical Laboratory Technology aims to provide efficient and balanced training in laboratory medicine. Students receive a stimulating, challenging and supportive academic experience alongside a fulfilling and enjoyable social life.

The Program of study enhances student’s knowledge and skills in several major areas of medical laboratory technology. The degree in medical laboratory technology provides advanced skills to practising laboratory professionals in health administration, leadership, conflict management, quality assurance and health informatics. Aim of the program is to teach and train students in the management of operation theatre along with handling a variety of operating instruments including electronic and advanced equipment used in modern operation theatres.

Radiology

BSc Radiology is a modern course which trains students to tackle the challenges of cutting-edge medical technology. As such BSc radiology is a three-year degree program which provides an entry into the more specialized radiology courses. Radiology sometimes called Radiography is the study and application of various imaging techniques to produce images of the internal structures of the human body. These pictures are termed as radiographs and have emerged as an integral part of modern medical sciences. Their most common application is in the diagnosis of ailments ranging from simple bone fractures to dreaded tumours. More advanced uses arise in the studies of human anatomy and physiology. Radiology encompasses varied techniques in X-Ray study and Ultrasound to MRI and Nuclear Medicine.

A Radiologist, also known as Medical Radiation Technologist or Radiographer, is thus a person with an added expertise in the production and interpretation of such images. Radiology has assumed great importance in medicine because it provides the least invasive, clean, quick and economical method to diagnose, monitor or treat bodily injury or disease.

BSc Radiology introduces the student to the basic bifurcation of the science of Radiology such as Diagnostic Radiology and Interventional Radiology. Diagnostic Radiology concerns itself with the use of X-Ray imaging and allied techniques for diagnosis of diseases and effects of the injury on the body. Interventional Radiology deals with the use of invasive procedures for diagnosis and treatment with the employment of imaging technology (X-ray, ultrasound, CT and MRI).

Operation Theater Technology

The 3-Year Bachelor of Science program in Operation Theater Technology has been designed for meeting the demand of the growing needs of experts in the fields of Operation Theater Management, medical ethics, Anesthesia Technology, Postoperative Care. The Operation Theater and Anesthesia Technologist are responsible for direct and indirect patient care, equipment set up and operation procedures. They are trained to assist the surgeons during the procedures and assume responsibility for completion of other functions as assigned.

This program is identified with all the work and management of the Operation Theater. The program prepares students for managing the patients and in addition to observing the intricate details of an operation theatre. During the study, the students are responsible for caring for all the surgical instruments and additionally their disinfection and sterilization. The role is to help the specialist amid operations and take care of the medications, anaesthetic gases, curtains, and sterilization necessities during surgery. Smooth working of ICUs, CCUs and Operation theatres in healing facilities and centres, is also taught.

Basically, an operation theatre technician is an individual who is responsible for all the administration of the operation theatre which incorporates dealing with the patients’ in & out of operation theatre, management of all the surgical instruments, up keeping operation theatre table, administration of the staff, instrument table, anesthesia chart as well as taking care of the medications needed for surgery, analgesic gasses, wraps, all the cloth & their sanitization. To put it plainly, an Operation Theatre Technician needs to oversee & arrange entire of the operation theatre and without this expert, no surgeon can perform surgery on the patients & neither can a hospital survive.

Cardiovascular Technology

BSc in Cardiovascular technology (BSc-CVT) is a 4-year program including-internship designed to cover all aspects of cardiovascular disease management and care. Learning of complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures that involve the use of various equipment, computer hardware, tools machines and pharmacological agents are part of the program that enables students to acquire skills for management of various cardiac disorders. Cardiac Technologists assist physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac (heart) and peripheral vascular (blood vessel) conditions preparing patients for open-heart surgery implanting pacemakers monitoring patients during these procedures performing cardiac stress tests and electrocardiograms using and maintaining the medical equipment that catches irregular heartbeats working in laboratory settings on real patients management of various cardiac disorders having complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Cardiac Technologists use diagnostic cardiology equipment and monitor resultant data typically in assistance to a physician. During cardiovascular testing a tube is inserted into one of the blood vessels that carry blood into the heart.
