Poonam Nehra is a Biomedical engineer, a teacher, and a researcher who has a strong keenness to democratize the healthcare system by making it more affordable and accessible. She is a holistically nurtured professional who has diverse work experience ranging from a corporate to an elite educational institute to a researcher.

With a zeal to increase the outreach of the existing healthcare ecosystem, she has researched extensively in the domain of drug delivery to make it more economic, and sustainable. With her research work, she has synthesized nanocellulose from agriculture waste for multiple biomedical applications. Her research area also includes nanomaterials, agricultural waste, magnetic nanoparticles, antimicrobial properties, and drug delivery.

For her qualitative research work, she has been appreciated by the Journal of Materials Chemistry B in 2020 and her research work was featured in a themed collection of the top 50 most popular articles. Her research work in antimicrobials is published by Springer as a comprehensive book chapter. She has also received the best research paper award at the national conference.
