Sri Aurobindo clearly but firmly emphasized that education in India must be “proper to the Indian soul and need and temperament and culture that we are in quest of, not indeed something faithful merely to the past, but to the developing soul of India, to her future need, to the greatness of her coming self-creation, to her eternal spirit”. The Mother explained that “to be complete, education must have five principal aspects relating to the five principal activities of the human being: the physical, the vital, the mental, the psychic and the spiritual.”
Vaicārikī is an initiative for thoughts, dialogues and discussions as part of the 150th birth anniversary celebration of Sri Aurobindo. The first chapter titled “Integrality of the New Education Policy” will start with a keynote address on the principles of Integral Education as laid out by Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. It will be followed by a panel discussion on the relevance of the New Education Policy in nurturing the several aspects of Integral education i.e. Physical, Vital, Mental, Psychic and Spiritual.
